Above the clouds …

Luftsportverein Siegerland, an association devoted to aviation, turns the Siegerland into a land for aviators. From the Eisernhardt – a 480-metre mountain in the south of Siegen – the association offers fliers, non-fliers and those who dream of flying the chance to experience the region from a bird’s-eye perspective.

The work of the association revolves around aviation training and the promotion of young talent. Voluntary flying instructors train attendees as glider, power glider or aeroplane pilots. Guests and other interested persons are welcome to visit the airfield, which accommodates a workshop, youth hostel and clubhouse. Flight activities generally take place during the flying season from around March to October (Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays); the association usually hosts a summer camp or organises events by special arrangement.
