Around the Rabenhain

In the triangle formed by the Siegen districts Bürbach and Breitenbach and the Netphen district of Dreis-Tiefenbach, you’ll find the Dautenbach hikers’ car park, a popular meeting spot for those who love to move around in the great outdoors.

This is the starting point for numerous hiking trails – shorter walks for families with children, moderately difficult circuits for dog lovers or recreational runners, and longer routes for serious walkers and runners. If you want to spend a great afternoon in natural surroundings with the whole family, the “Um den Rabenhain” tour is ideal. It is named after a well-known lookout tower, around 11 m high and built in 1896. Once you get there, take the solid steel stairs up to the viewing platform. It’s well worth the effort, as the view over the Siegerland is wonderful. And if you feel like a bite to eat after completing the circuit, Café Dautenbach just down the road from the car park is worth a visit.

Incidentally:

A section of this trail is part of the E1 European long-distance path that runs from northern Sweden to Umbria in Italy. A section of the Way of St. James, the most famous pilgrimage route in the world, is also just a few hundred metres away.
