Siegen City Marketing welcomes 14 new city guides
On the 2nd of December 2025, Siegen City Marketing celebrated its traditional end-of-year event together with its city guides – for the first time at the Tourist Information Office on Kornmarkt. During this festive occasion, 14 newly trained city guides were officially welcomed to the team.
The induction of the new colleagues marks the successful conclusion of a campaign launched in early 2025 to attract interested parties to the city guide profession and provide them with comprehensive training. Between April and October, the participants took part in three workshops in which they acquired in-depth knowledge of the city's history, didactic skills and practical abilities for guiding groups. After successfully completing the workshops, the prospective city guides took an entrance exam and are now officially certified city guides.
The managing director of city marketing was enthusiastic about the new additions to the team: "We are very pleased to expand our team of city guides with so many new colleagues. At the start of the campaign, it was not clear how many interested people we would actually be able to attract. So, it is all the more wonderful that such a committed and diverse team has come together."
Mayor Tristan Vitt also warmly welcomed the new and experienced ambassadors of Siegen and emphasised their importance: “The city guides play a key role. They are the face of Siegen and, as ambassadors of the city, they are the ones who shape the first impression of the city. Their commitment cannot be overestimated.”
Following the official induction, all those present received a small gift and took advantage of the festive atmosphere to engage in lively conversation. New and experienced city guides talked to each other, shared experiences and gathered ideas for further developing the tours.
With the team now expanded, the city marketing department is looking forward to the coming year with confidence. ‘Next year, we will launch a campaign to expand the city tours. In recent years, demand has been greater than our supply – fortunately, that has now changed, and we can really get started,’ explains Katja Teixeira.
