Trupbacher Heideweg

The Trupbacher Heideweg, which officially opened on 22 August 2025, is one of the ‘Sieg Adventure Trails’ and leads through the ‘Historischer Tiergarten’ adventure forest up to the Trupbacher Heide and back again.

Stretching 15.2 km, it links the two popular recreational areas in Siegen and offers unique views of Siegen and its mountains. The varied natural landscape is particularly charming, ranging from dense, ancient woodland to open heathland, which turns purple in late summer.

A particular highlight is the wide variety of views across diverse landscapes, ranging from the mighty ridges of the Rothaar Range, through magnificent valley views of Birlenbach and Langenholdinghausen, to vistas of significant landmarks of the region’s industrial history, such as the steelworks within the city limits.

In late summer, the heathland is in full bloom, lending the area a particularly enchanting display of purple hues.

The route of the circular walk through the Trupbach Heath has been optimised and is now signposted even more clearly. This allows you to explore the varied landscape of the heath at a leisurely pace and without any detours. As part of the ‘Erlebnisweg Sieg’ trail, it is marked by a white ‘S’ on a red background (see first picture).

Distance: 15.2 km
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Ascent: 350 m
Descent: 350 m

Parking: ‘Erlebniswald Historischer Tiergarten’ hiking car park, Trupbach hiking car park, Wellersberg hiking car park

Places to stop for refreshments: Das Kesselhaus

Anna’s tip: Make sure you go for a walk when the heather is in bloom! The best time is in August, in the morning when the sun is shining – that’s when the heather looks simply stunning. One of my favourite moments in the Siegerland!
