Castle-themed park and adventure playground for all ages

It may have been an unsightly excavation site until June 2021 – but now an inviting new adventure playground has taken shape at the Oberes Schloss. It’s the perfect place for children to play, discover and relax. The castle-themed facility was built around three remodelled, plant-filled plateaus. It’s all here: kids can climb, swing, slide and play to their hearts’ content within renovated city walls.

Children’s wishes come true

As far as the new playground is concerned, the wishes of children literally did come true: ideas were put forward as part of a participation process aimed at the kids of Siegen. The undisputed highlight – especially in warmer weather – is the water zone with water pump and play equipment just below the music pavilion. On the levels below, children can explore the play area of their dreams: castles to climb, suspended bridges to cross, slides, tunnels to crawl through, swings and much more.

Around the Siegberg

While the little ones enjoy the adventure playground, their parents can unwind beneath shady trees on redesigned seats and loungers. Completion of the playground was an important milestone in an urban development project known as ‘Rund um den Siegberg’ (‘Around the Siegberg’), which also includes a new wooden platform for the bastion, multifunctional play area and atmospheric new lighting. Thanks to the renovation work, Siegen’s castle grounds are re-emerging as an attractive and cohesive unit along the historical lines.
