Short circular walk through the Langenbach Valley

The Langenbach Valley near Siegen-Geisweid is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the municipal area and is ideal for a short break in the countryside. Several circular walks wind their way through the varied landscape, past meadows, streams and wooded slopes. Depending on the route you choose, you can enjoy either leisurely valley walks or slightly more challenging trails offering beautiful views over the Siegerland.

The starting point for the walk is the Langenbachtal car park on Sohlbacher Straße. There, an information board provides details about the two marked circular routes, A1 and A2. Both routes can be flexibly combined and extended to suit individual preferences, depending on time and fitness levels.

The route described here mainly follows the A1 circular trail, supplementing it with a few sections of path through unspoilt countryside. Despite its manageable length, the route offers plenty of variety. Those who prefer a longer hike can extend the tour via the Grümmelwiesen.

From the hikers’ car park, the path initially leads along a tarmac forest track into the Langenbach Valley. After a few hundred metres, the marked circular routes split. The A2 runs largely on level ground through the valley floor and is particularly suitable for a leisurely walk. The more varied option follows the A1 and gradually gains altitude.
The route leads uphill through peaceful woodland sections along a variety of forest tracks and footpaths. Further along, a narrow woodland path repeatedly offers lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Eventually, the route rejoins a tarmac road and from there follows the A1 back down into the Langenbach Valley.

For the return journey, you can either follow the marked route back to the hiking car park or choose a shorter alternative via a small path and a bridge in the valley.
Depending on your preference, time and fitness level, the circuit can easily be extended and is suitable for both a short stroll and a longer hike. If you’d like to combine the walk with a stop for refreshments, you’ll find a place to eat at the Dorint Parkhotel Siegen along the way. You should check the current opening hours in advance.
