In full bloom: Botanical tours through the castle park
The castle park surrounding the Upper Castle is one of Siegen's most beautiful spots – a place steeped in history, vibrant colors, and exceptional plantings. After the city acquired the castle and its gardens from the Kingdom of Prussia in 1888, it transformed the area into a public park. Today, the castle park is one of Siegen's most cherished places, serving as a green oasis for relaxation and a popular venue for events.
The city's parks department plants thousands of flowers each year in three phases – mostly grown from seed – ensuring that the colorful flowerbeds are in bloom throughout the year.
Anyone wanting to learn more about the park's planting or get practical tips for garden maintenance in their own garden will find one of the free botanical tours in April and June just the thing.
