Close to the Crown
The wrought-iron and gold-plated crown on the tower of the Nikolai Church is Siegen's landmark. The ‘crown of lilies’ (“Krönchen“), which looks graceful from afar, has adorned the skyline of the upper town since 1658 and is the highlight of the city tour ‘So close to the crown’.
The focus lies on the exciting history of the crown, the Nikolai Church and a special Siegen church treasure - the silver baptismal bowl, which was made in Peru in 1586 and brought to Siegen by Prince Johann Moritz in 1658. Afterwards, the staircase is opened, and visitors can climb the tower balustrade around the old guard's room and marvel at the 1.90-metre-high crown.
