Cherry Blossom Festival on the Wellersberg
Every year at the beginning of April, the park on Wellersberg is transformed into a sea of fragrant cherry blossoms - a wonderful backdrop for meeting up and celebrating. After the successful premiere in 2022, Siegen City Marketing organised the second Siegen Cherry Blossom Festival on the 1st of April in 2023 from 1 pm. It once again attracted well over a thousand visitors to Wellersbergpark, including numerous families with children, who enjoyed themselves in a great atmosphere.
Just in time for spring, which is not only celebrated in Japan with the cherry blossom, but there was also a colourful, entertaining programme for young and old. The Shin-Zen Siegen karate club demonstrated its Japanese martial arts for half an hour at 3 p.m. and the stand of the Montessori children's centre in Siegen offered coffee, delicious cakes and fresh waffles. There was also a food truck with great burger specialities and a falafel stand. Street musicians provided musical accompaniment. Manga fans could look forward to the Manga Mafia stand.
The highlight of the day was the festive illumination of the cherry blossom in the evening. As dusk began to fall, the cherry trees shone in bright pink colours. Visitors were able to take advantage of the play of colours to enjoy the atmosphere and collect some great photo impressions.
